One of the efforts from Jaris & K’s in giving back to the community of Jakarta Indonesia through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program is to allow a few of Jakarta’s creative minds to express their creations through artwork displayed on their Out Of Home (OOH) displays.
Four local artists are partnered by Jaris & K, and they are who goes by their artist name of @_tragicoo_, @comolo_, @bulletos, and @_gula. Each artist displays a style of artwork according to their inspirations and ideas surrounding the theme of what it’s like to live in Jakarta. @_tragicoo or known by the name of Darmawan Aji Sambodo displayed an artwork that he themed Dream, Demand, and Desire.
The artwork shows a narrative of where there’s a dream accompanied with the want and will within a person’s character, then there’s always a way to strategize on how to keep on surviving in such a busy and demanding city like Jakarta. Another of Jakarta’s talented artists, @_gula chooses to display artwork through the narrative of Love, Hate, and Relationship.
Jakarta, is a city with a dense population, a place where people hangin’ their dreams and hopes, and even though there are so many imperfections of the city, it feels like we are too in love to leave it somehow. On the other hand, @comolo_ chooses to remind Jakarta’s passing commuter about the iconic icons that have triumphed in their respective era from Jengki style architecture and adaptations from the Yankees, socialites with kebaya, indifferent youth with hairspray to obsession with the Komodo as a mascot, and compilation of cities that always want to change without direction which sometimes forgets to return to the roots.
Lastly, @bulletos chooses to display an art-filled around the colors and moods that represent the streets of Cipete where the art installations are placed upon.
This campaign is carried out by art workers in the capital city with the hashtag #UntungGuediJakarta, as a concrete action to continue to support artists who need a medium of expression through their work during this pandemic and make Jakarta becoming a city more friendly to arts. If you are still on the street pay attention to these creative displays.
